A major role of the American Meteorological Society (AMS) and this chapter (DC-AMS) is developing this nations youth through science fairs, scholarships, and mentoring. Please read the 2008 DC-AMS Science Fair Judge Infomation Sheet (pdf) if you are interested in helping out. Volunteers are needed for the following fairs this year:

- Northern Virginia Regional Science Fair, Wakefield High School, Saturday, March 8, 2008.

- Montgomery County Science Fair, University of Maryland (College Park Campus), Saturday, March 15, 2008.

- Loudoun County Science Fair, Dominion High School, Sterling, Saturday, March 15, 2008.

- District of Columbia Science Fair, McKinley Technology High School, Saturday, March 15, 2008.
